Notes & Reviews:

Of Eugne Ysae's many compositions he wrote, his set of Six Sonatas for Unaccompanied Violin, Op. 27 is especially important. Completed in 1924, they represent an opus summum of both compositional and violin technique. Ysae is still largely neglected as a composer. Renate Eggebrecht, a world famous violinist, is greatly concerned to show, with her readings, where Ysae should be placed among the great composers.

Violinist Renate Eggebrecht discovered some of Eugne-Auguste Ysae's compositions while still a student, in a second-hand shop in Munich. After a lifetime of studying Ysae', Eggebrecht has fulfilled a long-cherished dream by recording these volumes of Ysae's works. Ysae is still largely neglected as a composer. Eggebrecht is thus all the more concerned to show, with her readings, where he should be placed among the great composers.
