Brenda Lee: The Brenda Lee Story (Her Greatest Hits)

Album Notes

Released in 1973, just prior to Brenda Lee's re-emergence as a star on the country charts, THE BRENDA LEE STORY focuses on Lee's domination of the pop charts during the early '60s. Nearly every song on this 22-track collection was a Top 40 pop hit, with half having cracked the Top Ten.

At the time of its release, THE BRENDA LEE STORY was the best available overview of Lee's tremendous career, and while it remains a rock-solid compilation, MCA's two-disc ANTHOLOGY has since supplanted STORY as the definitive Brenda Lee collection. Still, THE BRENDA LEE STORY is a great collection, presenting some of Lee's most compelling rockabilly numbers ("Jambalaya," "Thanks A Lot"), as well as all the big pop ballads for which she is best remembered, such as "I'm Sorry," "All Alone Am I," and "You Can Depend on Me."
