Notes & Reviews:
Helmut C. Jacobs was born in Bonn in 1957. He took his first accordion lessons at the age of ten and was trained as a soloist by Guido Wagner. Jacobs has won prizes at national and international competitions. Numerous solo and chamber works have been written for him by composers including Jurg Baur, Claes Biehl, Herbert Callhoff, David P. Graham, Christoph, J. Keller, Giselher Klebe and Martin Christoph Redel.
In addition to the contemporary accordion repertoire, Jacobs is also involved with largely forgotten music for instruments like the English concertina and the harmonium which, like the accordion, are free-reed instruments. Since 1997 he has been Professor for Romance Philology at the University of Duisburg-Essen.
