Notes & Reviews:

Located on the campus of Clayton State University in Morrow, GA, Spivey Hall was the dream of Walter and Emilie Spivey, prominent Atlanta citizens who sought to leave something of lasting value to the community as their legacy. The 400-seat, acoustically-superior performing arts venue has presented the best in classical, jazz and world music to the metropolitan Atlanta area since 1991. Thanks to frequent appearances on American Public Media's Performance Today, heard on public radio stations across the country, the Hall has earned a national reputation while also reaching an international audience through exposure in such publications as BBC Music and International Arts Manager. The visual centerpiece of Spivey Hall's breathtaking design is the Albert Schweitzer Memorial Organ designed by the firm of Fratelli Ruffatti in Padua, Italy. The organ's official dedication was in May 1992. The 79-rank, 3-manual, 4,413-pipe organ is housed within a faux marble and gold leaf casework standing 50 feet high and 37 feet wide.

Alan Morrison is recognized as one of America's premier concert organists and enjoys a versatile career as organist, teacher, recording artist, adjudicator and pianist/chamber musician. A graduate of both the Curtis Institute of Music and Juilliard School of Music, Morrison has been chosen by his peers to perform for four national conventions of the AGO as well as numerous regional conventions. In 2002, Alan Morrison was appointed head of the organ department at Philadelphia's world-renowned conservatory, the Curtis Institute of Music. In 2006 he joined the faculty of Westminster Choir College of Rider University and has served as College Organist at Ursinus College since 1995. Named Spivey Hall's organist-in residence to coincide with the Hall's 25th Anniversary Season in 2015-16, his immediate success led to a five-year extension through creation of The McGehee Family Organist Residency which will involve him in various capacities, including silver anniversary celebrations of the Albert Schweitzer Memorial Organ.
