Mahler: Symphony no 4, Songs of a Wayfarer / Levi, Von Stade

Album Summary

>Mahler, Gustav : Symphony no 4 in G major
>Mahler, Gustav : Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen
Performer Conductor Ensemble Composer

Notes & Reviews:

The two works by Gustav Mahler on this recording occurred at the beginning and ending of the period when the German folk poetry of the collection Des Knaben Wunderhorn so strongly influenced his composing. In fact, the first four symphonies of Mahler are collectively refered to as Mahler's "Wunderhorn" Symphonies. The Yoel Levi/Atlanta Symphony collaboration has garnered much praise for their Mahler cycle, and are here joined by soprano Frederica von Stade.
