Notes & Reviews:

All members of Ludwig Guttler's Virtuosi Saxoniae are principal instrumentalists of the Dresden Staatskapelle, which explains how this new St. John Passion can compete with the best alternate versions available. Chorus and soloists are excellent too, and the set deserves the highest possible recommendation.
