Notes & Reviews:

For his first solo album, the lutenist Michele Carreca proposes a pondered choice of the most beautiful pieces for solo lute by John Dowland, whose compositions are universally considered an unquestionable milestone for lute repertoire. Lutenist Michele Carreca was born in Foggia and graduated from the Conservatorio Santa Cecilia in Rome with a degree in lute. As a soloist and chamber musician he has performed all over the world for various festivals and chamber ensembles. He has also played in various Baroque orchestras under the direction of such conductors as John Eliot Gardiner, Andrea Marcon, Alessandro De Marchi, and Chiara Banchini. He has recorded both as a soloist and continuo performer, and continues to give master classes and lessons at numerous institutions across Italy.
