Notes & Reviews:

L'Heure espagnole, Ravel's first opera, is given a welcome new performance by Previn and the LSO. As in the companion recording of L'Enfant et les Sortileges, the orchestra sparkles in portraying Torquemada's clock world and the abundant humor of the score. The leads are beautifully sung and the suitors are played against one another with delicious humor and a good sense of timing. The charm of this recording and the completely fun packaging make this an ideal choice.
