Notes & Reviews:
With this new recording, Christian Thielemann directly challenges the hegemony of Eugen Jochum. Jochum's DG recording of Carmina Burana with the same chorus and orchestra as Thielemann's new Carmina was for years the yardstick by which all other recordings were measured. The sound on this new issue is overwhelming in its impact!
