Notes & Reviews:

The Byrd Edition is a long-term project that is one of the most comprehensive ever undertaken in the early music field. It provides a chronological survey of Byrd's surviving Latin motets to the "Cantiones Sacrae" interspersed with a liturgical survey of the "Gradualia." Both volumes one and two of this series have been met with praise from Gramophone Magazine.

"..each line is beautifully shaped...a wonderful blend of sound...ASV should be heartily congratulated for their commitment to the project" - Early Music Review Volume 3 marks the completion of the early Latin Church Music. Here we have the Gradualia propers for the Epiphany, music of the highest quality, while the 11 motets, many of them not otherwise available, include Byrd's exquisite setting of Domine ante to omne desiderium.
