Strauss: Also Sprach Zarathustra; Mahler / Boulez, et al

Album Summary

>Strauss, Richard : Also Sprach Zarathustra
>Mahler, Gustav : Symphony no 2 in C minor "Resurrection"
Conductor Ensemble Composers

Notes & Reviews:

In a unique coupling, Boulez combines one of the most popular late Romantic orchestral works, Strauss' "Also Sprach Zarathustra," with Mahler's rarely performed and recorded "Totenfeier." Boulez and the CSO won two Grammy Awards in 1999 for Bartok's Bluebeard's Castle (DGG 447 040) and Mahler's Symphony No. 9 (DGG 457 581). This new recording is stunning with the opulence of the performance matched only by that of DG's recorded sound.
