Album Summary
Conductor Ensemble ComposersNotes & Reviews:
This release presents the legendary conductor in one of his last concerts on June 18, 1968, at the Royal Festival Hall in London. The exotic, technicolor orchestra colors of Scriabin's Poeme de l'extase and the full blooded romanticism of Berlioz's Symphonie Fantastique are ideally suited to Stokowski's brand of orchestral Wizardry. Even though he was 86 at the time, the audiences and critics were stunned, and the concert is still strong in the memories of collectors.
