In reviewing our database, it appears that Anne-Sophie Mutter has made only one previous recording of Vivaldi's "Four Seasons." It was with Herbert von Karajan in 1984. Despite the deluge of choices for these pieces, we must feel abundant gratitude that Ms. Mutter has revisited them. Her earlier recording, as fine as it is, does not possess the scintillating effervesce of this new one. Anyone who collects great recordings of this work must unquestionably add this to their collection.

A wonderfully personal reading - Mutter is deeply reflective, reacting emotionally to each movement. The Trondheim Soloists' superb playing is a perfect match for Mutter's virtuosity.
