Notes & Reviews:

This is the newest release in Decca's exceptional Entartete Musik series: two cabaret nonsense operettas by Stefan Wolpe, who tirelessly opposed the rise of fascism in Germany. "Schone Geschichten" pokes fun at the middle and lower middle classes; Zeus und Elida imagines a retired Zeus visiting mid-20s Berlin looking for his abducted wife, Europe. Also included are three cabaret pieces offering Wolpe's avant-garde "take" on American jazz.
