Notes & Reviews:

Iona Brown first gained a reputation as solo violinist with, then leader of, the Academy of St. Martin-in-the-Fields Chamber Orchestra. For almost twenty years she has led the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra, and the group has become established as one of the foremost chamber ensembles of Europe. Both works here by Bartok and Janacek are mostly cast in formal structures with a heavy flavor of folk music; and both were written in homage to Antonin Dvorak.
