Album Summary
Conductor Ensemble ComposerNotes & Reviews:
This completes Thomas Sanderling's survey of the French composer Alberic Magnard's Symphonies. Magnard studied with both Massenet and d'Indy and is associated with Cesar Franck's circle, though he also had leaning towards Wagner and Bruckner. The first disc of his Symphonies (BIS 927) was warmly welcomed by the critics. The Malmo Orchestra has developed into one of Scandinavia's leading orchestras. They perform these romantic scores passionately, and BIS's sonics are excellent.
