Notes & Reviews:

This disc is arranged such that the listener is seated in the audience of the lively Italian plaza, Piazza San Marco. These live performances include instrumental arrangements of works from operas by Verdi, Puccini, Mascagni, and Offenbach as well as works by Piazzola, Morricone, and J. Strauss.

Notes & Reviews:

Recording information: Gran Caffe Quadri, Venezia, Italy (10/01/1997-10/04/1997).

This beautifully packaged aural pastiche evokes the spirit of an evening in Venice. Blending opera and tango, the romantic and sensual nature of this legendary city comes to life. While the audience noises sound a bit too canned at times, the exercise is for the most part very pleasing. ~ Tim Sheridan
