Notes & Reviews:

This release completes the musical legacy of the late Georg Tintner. While Bruckner had already composed two student scores, the 'First Symphony' is unmistakably the work of the master. From the opening bars (reminiscent of the finale of the 'Seventh Symphony'), to the heavy-footed 'Scherzo' and episodic finale, Tinter reveals each and every detail. This disc also features the original slow movement from the 'Third Symphony'; performed with all the wonderful Wagner quotes intact.
