Performers Conductor Ensemble Composer

Notes & Reviews:

Herbert Blomstedt, clearly an expert in all things Hindemith, continues his acclaimed cycle of Hindemith's works. Mr. Blomstedt made several critically acclaimed recordings on Decca with the San Francisco Symphony some years back. He assumed the direction of the Gewandhaus Orchestra at the beginning of the 1998/99 season. These large orchestral pieces are immediately appealing, and give the impression somehow of a searching for purity and a universal music.
