Notes & Reviews:

A prolific composer and highly regarded teacher, Reicha was appointed professor of composition at the Conservatoire in 1818. His catalog of compositions includes many operas, symphonies, concertos, large-scale choral works and a vast collection of chamber music. The wind quintet form, however, is considered to be the most important area of Reicha's output. We've said it before: the Michael Thompson Wind Quintet ranks with the world's best, and Naxos' recorded sound here is perfect.
