Notes & Reviews:

This CD premiere of Felix Draseke's principal symphonic work, the "Symphonia tragica" marks an important milestone in music history. During the 1920s the "Symphonia tragica" was still regarded by many as one of the most important symphonies of all time, and prominent conductors enlisted themselves in its cause. It is astonishing indeed how Draeseke was able to forge to his own unique stylistic path between the giants Brahms and Bruckner. This is highly recommended on all counts.
