Notes & Reviews:

Hans Pfitzner is perhaps most well-known for his work as a composer in the 20th century, but he was also a pianist, a teacher and a conductor in Mainz, Strasbourg and later, for the Berlin Philharmonic. Pfitzner was also a great lover of the German Romantic repertoire. Here he conducts the grandiose "Eroica" Symphony and the shorter, classically inspired Symphony No. 8, both by Beethoven, recorded from 1929-1933 and restored by David Lennick.
