Notes & Reviews:
Here is a surprising winner from Santa Barbara! And apparently the key is Gisele Ben-Dor, a conductor with "ferocious" talent (Los Angeles Times). This work is more oratorio than symphony. In addition to the orchestra, Villa-Lobos calls for vocal soloists and a chorus to perform a text written in several languages. Orchestra, chorus, and soloists all sound top-shelf under Ms. Ben-Dor's direction. This is an important and very satisfying release!
