Notes & Reviews:

Recording information: Garrison Church, Catterick Garrison, North Yorkshire.

The King's Division Waterloo Band performs with rousing pageantry and vigor. The horn and percussion ensemble, formed in 1994, draws upon a long tradition of British Army band excellence.

This collection of performances includes a few classics, but focuses on arrangements of stirring music from the cinema. Several John Williams pieces grace the album, including music from SAVING PRIVATE RYAN, the Olympic theme "Summon the Heroes" and a medley from STAR WARS, arranged by R.W. Hopla. The theme to A BRIDGE TOO FAR lends its military might, and "The Eve of War" from the musical 'War of the Worlds' lends its pop chart credentials. Actually, all of this music is updated with a pop sensibility. Drums reinforce the beat, making for a very danceable military band album.
