Notes & Reviews:

The works of Szymanowski on this disc display the evolution of his style. The orchestral works, dating from his early years, are late-Romantic and reminiscent of Wagner and Strauss. The song cycle "Slopiewnie" took Szymanowski down yet another path, one which led him to seek a style incorporating Slavic and folkloristic elements, and the nationalism characteristic of his final works.
