Notes & Reviews:

These three American piano trios, composed between 1984 and 1995, show the diversity of musical styles so richly evident in American chamber music of the 20th century. The Schifrin work is an eclectic mix of impressionism, South American rhythms and jazz. Gunther Schuller's trio is a wonderful synthesis of classical music and jazz. Shapiro's Trio reflects the post-impressionism contrapuntal writing of his teachers Milhaud and Boulanger, spiced with serialism and jazz.
