Notes & Reviews:

This new recording of sacred music includes recently rediscovered and reconstructed pieces that Verdi wrote in his early years: "Messe Solenne," written in 1835 plus works for orchestra with male solos, Tantum Ergos, a Qui Tollis and a Laudate Pueri. These constrast with the other contents of the disc, three much later but rarely recorded compositions: Ave Maria for soprano and strings, Pater Noster for a capella chorus, and Libera me for soprano and chorus.
