Notes & Reviews:

Although chiefly remembered today for his purely orchestral works, such as Sheherazade and Capriccio espagnol, Rimsky-Korsakov was to become almost exclusively an operatic composer. His genius for instrumental color and beautiful melodies is also evident, however, in the suites from his opera The Maid of Pskov and The Invisible City of Kitzh. Equally evocative is the Fairy Tale (Conte fuerique) that takes its inspiration from Pushkin.
