Notes & Reviews:

One of the leading double bass players of his time. Sperger was employed by various noblemen before settling in 1789 at Ludwigslust as a member of the ducal music establishment. He completed 45 symphonies, a number of concertos and a quantity of chamber music pieces, writing in general in the Austrian style of the late eighteenth century. These three symphonies receive their world premiere recordings on this disc.
