Notes & Reviews:
"With its already substantial catalogue of complete operas, the Opera in English series now (and, rather surprisingly, only now) turns to Mozart. We have come to know that an operatic performance recorded under David Parry is likely to be strong in its convictions, and this 'Don Giovanni' is no exception... the orchestral playing... is not only polished and skilful but also eloquent and pictorial..." -Gramophone
We have come to know that an operatic performance recorded under David Parry is likely to be strong in its convictions, and this Don Giovanni is no exception... Personally, I found myself gripped
Vividly recorded, David Parry's well-paced reading breaks new ground in offering the masterpiece in English, and very successful it is...Garry Magee as the Don makes a believably virile lover, vigorous and youthful...Andrew Shore also characterizes well as Leporello, bringing out the comedy but not guying it.
