Notes & Reviews:

The symphonies of Malcolm Arnold offer the finest examples of the composers serious work. These works are rich in invention, melodically appealing, dramatic, and easily approachable. The Fifth Symphony in particular is a magical work, strongly unified from beginning to end. This symphony belongs in any serious collection of 20th Century music. The performances on this budget priced Naxos CD are superb, as is the label's recorded sound. Highly recommended.
