The blind organist Antonio de Cabezon was one of the most distinguished musicians in Spain in the sixteenth century. The present recording offers a wide repertoire of compositions published for keyboard or plucked string instruments, but here played as they might have been then,by a varied ensemble of early instruments, including recorders, viols, double harp, harpsichord, organ and percussion, according to principles suggested in contemporary sources.
