Notes & Reviews:
Critic Teri Noel Towe places this Fritz Lehmann account of Bach's St. Matthew Passion "among the greatest performances on disc", and further describes the reading as "squarely in the classics Mendelssohnian tradition - straight forward and relatively brisk overall, with long legato phrases and rhythmic robustness." This was recorded live in 1949, and is a remastering of the original "Vox-Box" release.
