Notes & Reviews:

Joachim Raff's work stylistically models the music of Mendelssohn, while his contemporaries, Brahms and Bruckner, moved to a more romantic approach. Raff had to endure almost complete oblivion during the twentieth century, and it is only recently that a gradual renaissance has been set in motion. The music world has begun to notice that its fixation on Brahms and Bruckner has threatened to silence yet another unique nineteenth-century voice.
