Notes & Reviews:

Being made available again through Harmonia Mundi U.S.A., this Gimell album of music by Cipriano de Rore was the winner of two Gramophone Awards. The disc begins with the brief Josquin motet, "Praeter rerum seriem," one of the composer's most inspired and tightly-constructed motets. This in turn is the starting-point for de Rore's mass, which echoes Josquin's antiphonal style. Beautifully sung by The Tallis Scholars, and in excellent sonics, this album is highly recommended.
