Notes & Reviews:

The victory at Dettingen in 1743 called for celebrations in London and Handel accordingly composed the Dettingen Te Deum and the anthem The King Shall Rejoice. The Te Deum combines many different elements: statly pomp, martial vigor, and melancholy in memory of the fallen. It is without question one of Handel's finest pieces of ceremonial music.
