Notes & Reviews:

Mendelssohn's two piano trios are extremely fine examples both of his musical style in general and of his chamber music in particular. They contain the melodic facility and fluency that endeared Mendelssohn so much to the music lovers of the Victorian era, and have sufficient harmonic and structural originality to stimulate interest without being too challenging. These works were rewarding for amateur musicians to play, and yet are rewarding to hear performed by professionals.
