Notes & Reviews:

Although the alphorn is limited by its size and range, it may come as a surprise that works exist for this unusual instrument with orchestra! Leopold Mozart composed a number of concertante works for instruments not usually associated with the orchestra, and his deftly-constructed Sinfonia Pastorella exhibits a charm all of its own. The remaining three works were all written closer to our own time, exploring the relationship between man and nature through the instrument's timbre.
