Ensemble Composers

Notes & Reviews:

Sibelius wrote six works for brass ensembles. Three such pieces were written for the brass septet in the town of Loviisa where the composer spent his summer holidays. These peices were later editied by Holger Fransman and published with the title "Petite Suite." The date and circumstances of the composition "Tiera" for brass septet and percussion are less clear, but it seems to have been composed in the year his First Symphony was performed.
