Notes & Reviews:

"Seriously, Lees is a rather American-sounding composer who has remained true to the tenets of the style laid down by Piston, Copland, Harris, et al rather than going atonal, minimal, or any other al. His music is agile but his mood is generally serious. The German orchestra plays all three symphonies competently, though without the incisive mastery of the idiom that the Texas group shows in the Etudes. The recording is clear in sound." - D. Moore, ARG
