Notes & Reviews:

Telemann set texts by the great German poet Friedrich Gottlieb Klopstock on various occasions. The best-known of these settings are those of parts of the first and tenth cantos of the 'Messiah' composed during the 1750s and presented to the broader public in the Hamberg Drillhaus in 1759. Telemann was thus the first to lend valid musical shape to this famous epic poem.
