Notes & Reviews:
The six time Grammy-Award winning Emerson Quartet takes on Bach, with a spellbinding realization of the composer's final monument to his contrapuntal art, 'The Art of Fugue'. They bring to it all the assurance and mastery that we have come to expect of them, offering performances of mesmerizing virtuosity and profundity. The work itself is, of course, mesmerizing, consisting of 17 fugues and four canons, all based on a single theme, in music that is both simple and complex.
