Notes & Reviews:

Spontini was one of the most important Italian composers just before Rossini swept all before him. Long neglected, his operas have been revived with great success in recent years. He was a favorite composer of both Berlioz and Wagner. This great 1966 live performance is the only budget recording of Spontini's 'Olimpia' ever issued.
