Album Summary
Conductor Ensemble ComposerNotes & Reviews:
Along with Kondrashin and Rozhdestvensky, Evgeni Svetlanov was one of the three most famous Russian conductors of the the later 20th century. His readings, especially of Russian music, were noted for their intelligence, balance, and idiomatic flavor. Svetlanov was known for sometimes eschewing finesse in favor of raw orchestral power - an approach that is often especially exciting and appropriate in 'Le sacre du printempts'.
