The Oslo String Quartet's second release on CPO focuses on one of the truly great chamber compositions from the far North, placing it in contrast to two works from turn-of-the-century Vienna: the 'String Quartet in d minor' by Sibelius encounters Alban Berg's 'Lyric Suite' and Hugo Wolf's 'Italian Serenade'. The subtitle of the Sibelius quartet serves as the motto for the CD as a whole: 'Voces Intimae'/Intimate voices.
