'Jenufa' is one of the greatest 20th-century operas, and this brilliant performance stunningly remastered in digital sound, is the only budget issue and one of the best at any price. The wonderful tenor Ivo Zidek, who sings the male lead, was a star of the Prague National Theatre for many seasons, became its director in later years, and passed away in 2003 at the age of 76.
