Fuchs, like Bruch, numbers among the contemporaries of Johannes Brahms who today have been almost completely forgotten. His 'Serenade, Op. 53', was composed in 1895 on the occasion of Johann Strauss's fiftieth annivarsary as a musician and skillfully weaves in themes from 'Die Fledermaus'.
