Notes & Reviews:

Stokowski's transcriptions are valid as works in their own right, andfor Oliver Knussen, the conjunction of Stokowski and Mussorgsky produces a third composer, who doesn't actually exist, a Slavic bear of a composer born somewhere between the Black Sea and Cape Fear, whose orchestration is astonishingly original.
