Notes & Reviews:

"Like Brahms, Eduard Franck specialized in old-fashioned genres - concertos, symphonies and chamber music - and, again like Brahms, he wrote no opera. The composition dates for these sextets are unknown (they were published in 1882, and posthumously, in 1894) but they show enough debt to Brahms that Claudia Stagl, the author of the liner notes, assumes Franck knew Brahms's sextets and possibly Dvorak's as well." - Althouse, American Record Guide
