Notes & Reviews:

Pierre Fournier and Zino Francescatti were born in Paris and Marseille respectively. Fournier was the leading French cellist of his generation and performed with all the great musicians of the time, Cortot, Thibaud, Furtwangler, Karajan, Kubelik and Szell. The violinist, Zino Francescatti was internationally on the same level as Fournier, though because of the CBS contract, was probably associated more with the US after his debut there in 1939.
